Corn soup by Iwakiya
SUGAR CONTENT OVER 18 DEGREES, DAKEKIMI CORN.
Aomori's sweetest corn may just be the sweetest corn in Japan. "Dakekimi" (嶽きみ) breed is produced in Hirosaki area of Aomori has more than sugar content of 18 degrees.
The corn can be eaten as raw, you will be amazed by its natural sweetness. (Boiling makes even sweeter.)
I am to introduce corn soup made with Dakekimi corn which I bought from a shop called Iwakiya (岩木屋).
Dakekimi no corn soup, (嶽きみのコーンスープ). Price: ¥430
Contains,
Dakekimi corn, flour, oil and pork extract (fat), powdered milk, sugar, salt, creaming powder, onion, garlic, cream powder, yeast seasoning, cabbage, garlic, butter, chicken extract, pepper, trehalose, amino acid.
Opening the package. Simple retort pouch.
Can be heated two ways; boil the pouch for 5 min or microwave. I chose microwave to save a bit of washing.
Squeeze till the last drop...
Plastic wrap it and microwave for a couple of minutes.
Done. Microwaving has good and bad. The good, save the dish washing. The bad, as you can see, some of corn exploded. Well, it should make the soup creamier, I guess.
Along with my chicken sandwich.
The soup was very creamy. The corn was very very sweet. Dipping bread should be good idea. The grain of corn was fresh and juicy. This sweetness depends on your preference. But definitely worth a try.
Thanks for reading!
