“cotogoto” (コトゴト) is a select shop of Japanese goods which founded in 2012. Wide range of categories are available, from kitchen tools to clothing.

All items are particularly made in Japan and each items are carefully selected. Nearly 100 brands and makers in Japan.

Every items lined up on shelves will make you want to pick them up and see. Prices vary on brands and items but there are certainly items that fits your budget.

Sakizomefuroshiki, (先染風呂敷).

Price: ¥540

Produced by “Miyai”, a furoshiki company located in Kyoto, of which founded in 1901. For over a century, the company has been creating highly evaluated furoshiki used and loved by Japanese.

The products tend to be slightly thicker than other furoshiki. They will shrink a bit after being washed because density of weaving is high. After times of wash, they will become much softer, the texture will be much more comfortable. You can use it as table-mat, to cover a lunch box, or even as handkerchief.

Hira Kyusu, (平急須). Price: ¥6,264 and ¥6,480

Produced by “Azumaya” (東屋). This is a company that stands in between craftsman and designer. Improving and re-designing products on market to provide products that is selected by people for 1000 years.

The price varies between one with its handle on the side and one with its handle on tale. Both handles are quite usable, both handles are beneficial in grip.

They are both easy to clean because of their wide entries. This is also beneficial if you put Japanese tea by leaves, rather than tea-bags.

JICON, (磁今).

Son of traditional Arita pottery family of which has over 350 years started his own brand “JICON”. Unlike ordinal Arita potteries, JICON’s pottery design is flat and simple. They are designed to fit in our daily life. The owner of the pottery, Mr. Imamura has questioned old regime of pottery. That is why he started his own pottery even though he is gentle blood.

Regardless to domestic or international, JICON’s pottery is highly evaluated and still rising. The shop, cotogoto is one of the first store that decided to sale JICON when it was founded.

The price range is from around hundreds to a couple of thousands yen.

Stationary tray by FUTAGAMI, (文具トレイ).

Price: ¥2,365 to ¥3,780

Brass tray for stationary by FUTAGAMI (二上). The brass products maker that has over 120 years history. The noticeable feature of FUTAGAMI is the surface of the products. Leaving rough texture made in casting. The rough surface enhance when the brass is oxidized. One of the coolest brass products maker in Japan.

The box is designed for sewing tools to fit in, but you can also store anything-else. Placing it in your kitchen for spice rack, on your desk for pens, you name it.
