Edo kiriko by Tadano glass-works
ANCIENT JAPANESE GLASS WORK, EDO KIRIKO.
Also called, cut glass, founded in 1834 (Edo period). Delicate colors and patterns are placed on a glass material. It requires intensive concentration and crafting skills, and there are not as many of artisans as used to be.
Artisan Tadano, was born in 1975, followed in father's footsteps by becoming a glass artisan. He runs Tadano garasu kakojo (但野硝子加工所), and has been winning numbers of awards at contests and exhibitions.
His design is more of modern, when compared to old style of Edo kiriko. It can be said that he evolved Edo kiriko into new and sophisticated.

Guinomi, Fukuro.

Guinomi (Sake cup) designed with Fukuro (Owl).
Red color is occasionally available.

Blue version. Combination of amber and blue color is very captivating.
From the top. Same as red, a rabbit is in between woods, is moony.
Other color is occasionally available. Amber layered by green.
Guinomi, Kingyo.

Guinomi designed with Kingyo (Gold fish).
Scales of the gold fish is extremely precision, looks sharp but fits perfectly in hand.
Shiki, Natsu.
Price: ¥70,200
Shiki (Four seasons) designed with an image of Natsu (summer). The wave is motif of Katsushika Hokusai (wiki).
From the top. These cups were made by glass blown method (wiki). So, size and weight are not identical.
Fujin Raijin.
Price: ¥43,200
8.5 x 8.8cm size. Used to be separate design. (Glass of Fujin and glass of Raijin.)
