Kinpaku, gold leaf is dominantly produced in Ishikawa. The reason is mainly because of weather.
Production of gold leaf cannot be done in dry condition because it easily make static electricity. Therefore, high humidity area such as Ishikawa is optimum place for production.
Gold leaf is an alloy, made of gold, silver and copper. They are mixed, then struck and elongated into 0.0001 millimeter.
It is often used for decoration of traditional craft, many commercial products and food. Although ingredients for food decoration is slightly different than others to make it perfectly safe to eat.

Crafting with gold leaf trial that they offer is easy and reasonable, from ¥600. You can choose items what you want to put the gold leaf onto, chopsticks, a plate, a small box, a mirror, neckless and so on. The trial should take 60 min, so easy to add it to your schedule.
