Kendama used to be Japanese traditional toy, now, is accepted as street sport globally. In 2006, Kendama USA and British Kendama Association were founded.

It is a sport to test your patience and determination. Players compete with their well practiced skills by putting a string attached ball into three different cups and spike of its main body.

Tricks and skills are tested in Kendama examination and players are ranked by which skills that they performed.

In Kawagoe city (Saitama prefecture), "Sulab" has set up Kendama shop and cafe where Kendama players gather up from all over the world.

Pretty much "everything" can be bought at Sulab, from Japanese made to USA, Denmark, Taiwan made. Stepping into shop is a easy part, what's the hard part? Well, to see their Kendama selection in one piece. There are hundreds of Kendama is hanged up all over the wall.

You could also give a try before your purchase. Simply ask store staff that you want to give it a shot. (Telling you are right-handed or left-handed would probably help)

As I mentioned it's also a cafe, except for first time visitor, you'll have to order a drink or alcohol to play in SU Lab.

First order of non-alcohol drink is charged for ¥500, and ¥350 for following orders.
