Nama choco mochi by Seven Eleven
BLOWING UP 100 YEN SWEET CALLED "NAMA CHOCO MOCHI" BY SEVEN ELEVEN.
Convenience stores are definitely the easiest shop to be found. But don't despite them just because they are everywhere. Original brands of snacks and sweets are developed with millions of yen invested. Thanks to the efforts, many of those are reasonable and delicious.
This time, top share company in the market, Seven Eleven and its delicious mochi I'd like to write about. There are 19,979 stores in Japan as of Dec 2017 and the number is still growing. So, definitely the most frequently seen shop if you walk around any streets in Japan.
The sweet is called "Nama (raw) choco mochi". Using smooth mouth-melting "raw" chocolate as filling in mochi, and the mochi is covered in slightly bitter cocoa powder. Surprisingly, the price is just ¥100 yen exact for 3 mochis.
Confectionaries, especially of Seven Eleven are fast transit. Compare to numbers of new products, very very few are surviving and becoming staple. So, hurry before it gets sold out.
Nama choco mochi, (生ちょこもち).
Price: ¥100
Cocoa powder on outside of mochi is slightly bitter, which makes the sweetness of soft chewy mochi and raw chocolate filling accentuate. The mochi is extra soft, making almost no worries about choking. (But still be careful if you are mochi beginner.) The filling, raw chocolate is creamy and mouth-melting. 3 mochis for just ¥100 is so much easy on the wallet.
