Inventional lens clothes, "PETI PETO" is now on sale by a company called "100percent". This made in Japan lens clothes is based on our tradition of "Origami". It is pleating on polyester to memorize the designed shape and this clothe go back in form by simply hopping on a palm.

Although the effect of shape memory is not permanent, it is amusing to use and makes you want to carry it around. PETI PERO is very popular among Japanese market and oversea's, production seems unable to keep up with its rising demand.

Luckily, I happened to get one. Let me show you how it works, both cleaning functionality and shape memory.

First, unfolding the PETI PETO. There was only one thing in my mind, "Do I remember how to fold a tsuru? Nope." It was a long time ago. Unfolded size is 200 x 200mm. As you can see, pleating left vivid mark, assuming its traceable.

Wiping glasses. Some review said they weren't satisfied by its cleaning ability. Well, I wonder if they wrote their name on the glasses with permanent marker or something. It works perfectly fine.

After cleaning my glasses. Put it on a table and it is already reverting itself.

In less than 5 seconds, it was back in original form. I gave a couple of push with my fingers. Still can't remember how to origami this bird.

How about crumpling it? Squeezed and crumpled quite hard over and over.

It reverted itself probably quicker than the last time. Like a living thing. 100percent says the shape memory is not permanent but memorizing is very firm and strong. You can use it to clean glasses, camera lens, monitors, mobile phones, and so on.

Cleaning ability is satisfactory, too. Although the price is not incredibly cheap, it is worth it. Something special souvenir or even a gift that you can bring back from Japan.
