A company called Saruya has over 300 years of history, making toothpicks. The oldest and onliest shop is located in Nihonbashi, Tokyo.
All toothpicks are hand made by craftsman, and quality is more than satisfactory. They only use woods called Lindera, a kind of Camphor, bends and strong material. Lindera is often used as perfume material, so when it breaks, it spreads aromatic scent of woods, kind of sweet smell.
When compared to ordinal toothpicks, the price is not cheap, but if you want something unique and special. Saruya's products would've been nice.

20 toothpicks are in a wood box. Characters on the box says, "Kin Senryo", meaning fortune. Kin means money, Sen is a word for thousand, and Ryo is a word for Japanese ancient currency.
Samurai yoji (toothpick).

40 toothpicks are in a plastic bag. Each toothpick is individually packed with paper. Samurai word is printed on the folding paper. Cool to learn how they used to talk. Get a laugh out of saying to Japanese person.
