Visionary "Marunage" by Kracie
STORM OF AWFUL REVIEW IN TWITTER MADE ME WANT TO TRY, MARUNAGE (まるナゲ)
The best thing in shopping at convenience stores is you get to find new things. "Marunage" is one of them - a snack I found in Seven-eleven a while ago.
The snack is soy-meat of nugget flavor made by "Kracie" (クラシエ).
It didn't come to my attention until I decided to write about that the snack is awfully reviewed and it is very hard to find good review or comment about the product.
As I dig more info about it, I found something more interesting. The manufacturer of the snack deleted product page from its official website and pretending it didn't exist. So, the fact that Kracie deleted the page made me wonder how much it tastes bad.
Now, there's no official information you can find over internet except for people's reviews. It's visionary.
Marunage, (まるナゲ).
Price: ¥168
Ingredients: Soy protein food (powdered soybean protein, starch, others), sugar, soy sauce (including wheat), okara powder, salt, soy protein / sulfate Ca, fragrance, emulsifier, sweetener (xylose, sucralose) Amino acids, etc.), spice extract
Fat is 80% less than nuggets, says on the back of the package and it's only 45kcal.
Only 6 or 7 pieces. It's maybe because they are soy sauce flavored, looks kind of "karaage".
A bit moisty and appetizing smell of soy sauce.
Texture on surface is just like real meat.
Hmm. Dense seasoned soy meat. Can't tell the flavor of soy, maybe overwhelmed by the seasoning. The texture is chewy. Well, I like it.
A friend of mine says it's kind of bitter and she didn't like it.
If I had a choice between "soy meat of Karuna" and this, definitely will choose Karuna. But I really hope Kracie to make this product with lower price. Although I am not a vegetarian, very keen on low fat food.

As of March 2018, "marunage" was sold at Seven-eleven, the same shop I bought it from. But it's a matter of time before disappear.
