KAYA IS ONE OF THE BEST JAPANESE GOODS STORE YOU CAN FIND IN JAPAN.
Kaya is run by a company called Amina collection co.ltd. There are 19 stores in Hokkaido, Miyagi, Tochigi, Chiba, Saitama, Kanagawa, Tokyo, Nagano, Gifu, Aichi, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Fukuoka, and Oita.
If you are visiting Japan and seeking for best souvenir for anyone, this is the shop you can't miss out.
Kaya sales variety of Japanese goods from modernized traditional merchandise to good old traditions. Once you pop into the store, you will immediately see why I recommend these stores. Layout and design of shop interior will bring you back in time.
Since Amina collection established Asian brands such as "Cayhane", "Kahiko", and "C-craft". Some of items that you might find are not made in Japan.
But, no bother. Made in Japan items are shown at every corner of each products. So, there is absolutely no stress of picking every products and flipping over to see where it is made in.
The shop is crowded with charmy items. Just wondering inside the shop simply makes you forget about the time.
Bunch of Furoshiki are hanged colorfully. If you ask, shop staff will wrap your purchased item with bought Furoshiki. Just don't ask to wrap something you bought from other store...
Not a big, but decent amount of Bento's selection.
Tabirira, (Think it meant Relax Tabi) for ¥8,640. Size from 23 to 27cm.
Traditional toys are also available.
Each Daruma color represents different blessings. I should buy orange one and give it to my neighbor.
And off course, the section of chopsticks. In many occasions, Japanese give chopsticks in pair to celebrate just married couple. (Meotobashi, 夫婦箸)
Tenugui section gives you enormous choices to choose from. They are all reasonable, around ¥800 to ¥1,000.
Hair accessaries are also plenty. Pierces, earrings, rings, kanzashi, hair pins, and so many on. Reasonable price too.
Perfect buddies for the Tabirira, or even sandals. Each one cost just ¥540.
Real candy is inside. Well looks like so. Why? because it's cute, a shop staff said. Agreed.
Cell phone strap with real candy. I trust you but don't eat it.
A notebook's cover is made of washi (和紙, Japanese paper). Known for its high durability (as a paper) and taste of appearance becomes better and better as you use everyday.
Washi products. Inside is made of normal paper. Seemed very fashionable and useful.
There are so so many that I can show you everything. So many good stuff.
Here's some items I couldn't resist buying.
I wanted to buy more. Let me just say, husband's shopping will never be well understood. On the other hand...
Nihon fusen sticky note, JAPANESQUE, (日本ふせん だるま, 招き猫).
Price: ¥549
Daruma and Maneki-neko, good-luck doll in Japan. The Daruma is cut by laser and works as sticky note. 20 sticky notes.
Hard to believe if this is really cut by laser. I expected little piece will be torn off when I peal it. Here we go.
Chilled. Easy to peal and no single bit is torn.
You can use it on your papers. I decided to use it as a bookmark.
Match box paper clip, (マッチ箱 ペーパークリップ).
Price: ¥302
I like items that shows maker's playful mind. 18 paper clips with retro design match box.
Counted 18. All paper clips are made of paper. And they are incredibly durable.
At the side of the box, there is a file. I am buying matches for no any other reason now.
Match box sticky note, (マッチ箱 ふせん).
Price: ¥324
Fujisan (富士山, Mt. Fuji) box. Again, retro design, very cool.
Inside the box, there are small sticky notes.
